What is the AEO certification?
The AEO certification addresses the need to safeguard goods during import, export, and transit. It is available to all economic operators established within the European Union engaged in customs-related activities. The certification is granted by the Customs Authority following a thorough evaluation process.
Types of AEO Certification
Since January 1, 2008, with the introduction of Regulations (EC) No. 648/2005 and No. 1875/2006, three types of AEO certifications have been established within the European Union:
- AEOC (Customs): For customs simplifications;
- AEOS (Security): For security measures;
- AEOF (Full): A combination of the previous two, covering customs simplifications and security.
Criteria for AEO Certification
To achieve AEO status, a company must meet strict requirements, including:
